Just fired up the demo of ACDSee 7, stuck my DRebel's CF card in the
card reader, and used the Acquire Wizard to unload the pics. Noticed
afterward that it had only transferred the CRWs and left the THMs
behind. This is annoying because it means the EXIF data all gets left
behind and potentially lost.

Navigated to the THM files on the CF card drive and ACDSee doesn't even
recognize them as image files, doesn't even attempt to pull up the EXIF.

Checked the File Associations: not only is THM not in there, but the
stupid thing doesn't even give you the ability to add new definitions!
THIS is the most retarded thing I've seen in software in a long time!

I rename the .THM to .JPG and ACDSee pulls up all the EXIF info nice, it
just appears to be too stupid to even try if it's not speficially TOLD
that the file is a supported format.

Not to mention, ACDSee sees all the CRWs at half-resolution (1544x1028).

Why would anyone pay US$80 for this? IrfanView is FREE and it: a)
allows you to add to the extensions it recognizes; b) realizes that THMs
are really JPGs and offers to rename them; c) will still view the EXIF
data even if you don't; and d) it also sees CRWs at half-resolution.

I love ACDSee 7, but I turn off the Acquire Wizard, as I find I'm much
happier simply copying files by other means. I don't want to wait for
actual viewing from the card in ACDSee...better just dump the files in a
folder and view them from your hard drive.

BTW... Once you turn the Acquire function off (via the icon tray by the
clock on your PC) ACDSee will rightly assume that you no longer want to use
it...meaning it won't run it any more from then on--unless you tell it to.
