Is the 18-55mm EFS IS f3.5-5.6 lens that comes with the TI1 kit any better
than the 18-55mm EFS f3.5-5.6 lens that came with my Canon Rebel XT? I know
the new one has stabilization built-in but I don't need that for that lens.
Should I just buy the body and keep my old lens?

I don't have experience with the non-IS 18-55, but "everyone says" that the
new one has better optical performance, and is worth it even if you don't
use the IS.

The IS version is vastly better, perhaps the best kit lens on the market.

Yes, plastic all over, but a wonderful piece of optiscs :-)
Bought one for 60 euro and use it just for fun besides met L-lenses.

How much in camera sharpening was done on the P&S. Everyone knows that
DSLR's don't do as much in camera sharpening. So to say the P&S looks
sharper is not a true test.
