Looks like a Deer tick to me. Ixodes scapularis. Leave it on and check
back latter?

You mean like if I die or something we'll know for sure?

Sadly, my poor little friend has already been called to tick heaven.

I always think of that classic Jesse "The Body" Ventura line from the
movie, Predator.
"Son of a bitch is dug in deeper than an Alabama tick."

I was just going to say be careful because deer ticks carry Lymes
Disease.

They are a little easier to differentiate when they are engorged.

The seed ticks are the ones I really hate. :-(

When most people see a tick on them they run to get the matches and
the tweezers.
I run to get the 65mm MP-E Macro.

A few drops of lighter fluid will make them withdraw and loosen up.
After a minute or so, they can be pulled off easily with tweezers.
