Looks like a Deer tick to me. Ixodes scapularis. Leave it on and check
back latter?

Sadly, my poor little friend has already been called to tick heaven.

I always think of that classic Jesse "The Body" Ventura line from the
movie, Predator.

They are a little easier to differentiate when they are engorged.

the tweezers.
I run to get the 65mm MP-E Macro.

A few drops of lighter fluid will make them withdraw and loosen up.
After a minute or so, they can be pulled off easily with tweezers.
