I have hand a wander around the internet to find some information on
Camcorder head cleaning.

We have 3 Canon camcorders of varying ages and none has ever been
cleaned. Now the oldest (MV30), which I mainly use for capture, has
decided that it doesn't want to transfer cleanly. I realised that it
must be the heads having transferred the tape to the PC on the newest
camera and it was fine.

Please could anyone confirm the following, or if not please tell me what
I should do?

I should buy a canon cleaning tape and use it for a maximum of 5 seconds
at a time. One reference said that if the tape gets hot it is a lot
less effective. We have almost always used the same make of tapes in
the cameras.

Yep, I simply followed the instructions on the tape cleaner and didn't
overrun. Worth a shot.
