I want to get a digital camera for general picture taking. Friend has
the above camera that they are willing to sell me. Any opinions on this
camera. TIA.

Thanks - I did buy it and it seems to be a very nice camera - it came
with a rechargable battery and dock and so far the battery is lasting
long time between recharges. The 10X lens is nice for getting pictures
of the Eagles at work!

Default Kodak in general

First, I think the colors recorded by Kodak sensors are great!

Second, there were some problems with battery contacts in a ew of their cameras which required you to 'shake' the camera to get battery contact with the camera. If you have a good one, then it is indeed a good one and don't worry about it.

Third, try using Lithium batteries, I went on a weeks vacation with a 2GB memory card and one set of Lithium batteries and took 400+ pictures (anything and everything I saw) and almost filled the memory card, but the batteries were still going when I came back home. They do cost more than alkalines, but are well worth it in convenience. No nightly recharging worries, no unexpected battery changes, don't have to carry lots of spares!
