Hi,
I have a Nikon AF-S DX 18-70mm F/3.5-4.5 since 4 years now. The lens
broke down
2 years later (screw was moving inside and zoom blocked at 18mm), i
sent
it to be repaired, it comes back repaired, and since 6 month i have
the
same problem !
Last week i decided to fix it, i bought the ebook
"AF-S-DX-ED- 18-70mm-Zoom. pdf" from
www.completeservice manuals.com.
I disassembly it, found out that the screw A1-17050FB(10) (Zoom key
screw) was totally unscrewd, i screwed it back, re-assembly the lens,
took a deep breath, tested the lens on my D40 .... and i works but had
hard time to get the focus.
I explain : it moves fast from 0.38m to infinite, without getting the
focus, or sometimes badly get the focus, or sometimes it's OK.
Here is a video :
http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=_B3DAgKXG1s showing
what's going on exactly.
Here is the part list diagram (moving screw was : A1-17050FB(10)) :

The only "problem" i saw before assembling everything is teh "MR Head"
which is not perfectly aligned with the magnetic tape, can it be
that ??
If anyone had an idea about this focusing issue, would you like to
share with us please ?
Many thanks to the community !
