Hi all,

I know this is digital, but since I hope that you can help me.

I have an old Ricoh SLR camera with 2 lenses. This was made way before
things became automated so all functions are manual. Is this worth anything
to anyone? I am guessing it would be more of a collector item because of
its age and unknown working condition. Moving stuff out to make room and
pay for DSLR.

Thanks all..

Its probably not worth too much but check eBay for prices typing in
the make and model number in the search field and check off "Completed
listings" (or "Completed Items/auctions") on one of the tick boxes on
the side of the page. Even old automated film cameras don't go for
much (depending on make and model). If you plant to stay in the K-
mount (Pentax/Samsung) for digital you may at least want to hold onto
the lenses to use on your DSLR. Also if your DSLR goes on the fritz,
having a film body with 2 lenses as backup is better than having
nothing at all to shoot pictures with.

Hope this helps :-)

You might post to rec.photo.equipment.35mm.

You might also be able to use Ricoh K-mount lenses with Pentax DSLRs.
There are some important caveats, whoever, since some Ricoh lenses have
extra bits on the mount that can get jammed in the camera body, causing
it to get stuck in a position that's neither mounted nor removable.

I would think that a Ricoh SLR old enough to be "all manual" would use the
old Pentax screw mount lense rather than the more recent K mount.

You are probably better off selling the lenses on Ebay as they can be
used with adapters on various digitals.
To give you an idea of how worthless old film cameras are, I bought a
camera body and a lens (because I wanted the lens) cheaper than two
other lens-only auctions running at the same time!
