Beautiful pelican shot. Very sharp and colors are true-to-life.
Ahhh, Edisto Island. Lovely place to vacation.

Northern Hemiphere pelicans are ugly creatures in the extreme.
One day, I'll show you a real pelican photo.
Just as soon as I learn what the focus switch does on this new fangled
digital ??? (What the hell does that mean) camera. I have to figure out too
where to put the film. It doesn't work at all since I pried the back off
looking for the film chamber...

God! What use is a camera you can't put film into? How dare they reject my
warranty claim? The lovely lady at the Chemist always changed the film for
me but she couldn't find where to put it either. And what about all these
stupid numbers? What does 1D Mk111 mean? It's not an English name for one of
those Yankee powered Jaguar things is it?

Oh... Help me here Bret.
Geez things have changed a lot since my day. You can actually see pictures
on the computer that look like photographs now. How do you do that? And
spying... Who would have thought to buy a camera and hire an expensive lens
just to see what your neighbour's mail looks like?

Me? I'd have just crossed the road and looked in the mailbox. It's no good
complaining about sharpness just because you couldn't read who the letters
were addressed to mate. Why didn't you just cross the road like I would
have? Your legs are not painted on are they? Someone didn't break 'em for
you or something like that did they, Bret? Oh man... You're gonna have to
stop being such an arsehole before someone does!

Douglas

Good, because all we've seen from you so far has been crap like this:

http://www.annika1980.com/D-Macs/returnl.htm
http://www.annika1980.com/D-Macs/monochrome-digital.htm

I love reading this on your page:

"I did this with a Panasonic FZ50 digital camera. These cameras
produce a better quality image than a APS sized DSLR... For creating
art prints.
The Leica lens and advanced camera functions make this lovely camera a
real rival for retail or consumer version DSLRs."

LOL! I think we've already popped that balloon, haven't we, D-Mac?
What "advanced camera functions" were you referring to on the
Panasonic (oops, I meant "Leica")?

And what's with the strange boxes all over your photos and the fact
that the bottom photo is cut off?

You write:
"Just ignore the small horizontal black lines in the picture, they are
necessary for my display criteria nowadays."

The lines I see are white. How are we to learn from the great Master
if you can't even put up a viewable web page?

Yeah, but at least they are colorful and not blurry like those
Australian pelicans.

They could be related..

I have no idea how you get crystal sharp images of the birds in flight, but
I know it's more than just the L glass. I can't get close.

The part I really can't get over with you is how easily you take a bait.
http://www.annika1980.com/D-Macs/blurry-what.htm

Match 'em up mate... The same picture. What does that say about the fabulous
Bret Hogan - Master of the lens in his own mind?

He can't tell the difference between a photo with a major element (the pier)
blurred and the principal element (the birds) sharp. as being anything other
than a blurred image... Pity you mate.

This is why you are such a **** poor photographer who flukes a few good
shots. You really haven't got a clue about the how, why and for what reason
people are attracted to photographs. The chip on your shoulder guarantees
you never will either.

Tony Polson was the first to fall for this trick. A legend in his own mind,
that idiot. Mark Thomas chimed in with him when he thought he'd get a bit of
the action too. More fool him because it just proves all three of you are
babes in the woods when it comes to photography. Sharpness has less than 20%
to do with the acceptability of a picture yet for you, it is everything.

Anyone who had an interest in the subject matter (Pelicans) didn't care a
hoot about the blurred pier. They saw the picture, not the photo.

You're too far down the track to your own eventual end to consider actually
learning anything useful now... Keep up the good analysis. I'm fascinated by
your continued stupidity in doing it and how easily I can bait you. Most of
all... That you still take the bait! How stupid can you get?

Do you actually wonder what a laughing stock you are making of yourself when
you come out with this sort of personal attacks you've been making on me
....on someone who does actually understand the emotion of a picture?

Forget the personality clash for a moment and consider that I've been
selling my photos for 40 years in one of the most hostile environments you
could wish to get into. You come along with a loud mouth and ego big enough
to float the Queen Mary and think you are going to set the world on it's end
with your pictures... You can't because you don't have enough of them and
those you have are so overworked and resized as to be worthless for anything
but viewing on a monitor.

You really do look like a school kid trying to prove he's ready for work...
You aren't ready mate and never will be. All you are is a happy snapper.
Granted you are as good as most but you lack the most basic ingredient
anyone in the arts industry must have.

If you aren't born with it, you can't learn it. You don't have it. Do both
of us a favour and shut the **** up about what you think is wrong with my
photographs because the ones you pick on are bait especially for the likes
of you and your half baked "expert" mates so I know how knows what they are
talking about and who is just flapping their lips to hear their own opinion.

Douglas

It doesn't say anything about me. It says that you think you can
prove something by posting that noisy over-sharpened crap and call it
a decent pic.
Surely you have some decent pelican pics somewhere to post? We don't
have pelicans around here and last year was the first time I'd ever
even taken a picture of one. It's hard to believe that my initial
attempt can be so much better than anything you can take when they
live right outside your door and you've been a "sought-after
Professional Photographer for over 20 years."

> Sharpness has less than 20%

No. Actually on that pic of the two pelicans flying my problem wasn't
with the sharpness of the pelicans. Anyone can easily see where
you've tried to sharpen them up. My problem with that pic is that it
doesn't look natural since no part of the pier is sharp or in focus.
But I guess that's how you have to compensate when you don't use the
correct equipment or technique to start with. Someday maybe you'll
understand DOF and how to use it. But with that crappy old Panasonic
(oops, I meant "Leica") you're pretty much screwed.

They saw an unnatural photo.

Yeah, you keep posting crappy photos and I'll keep commenting on them.
That's the way it works.

And God only knows why something like this pic would ever make it to
your hard drive to start with, let alone clog up intenet bandwidth.
http://www.annika1980.com/D-Macs/IMG_1614.png
The sad thing is, you probably think that's a great pic.

I make personal attacks against YOU? No, I just say that your pics
suck.
Here is what a personal attack sounds like:
