I think you are not getting many offers for help because your
situation is pretty impossible. I can't imagine you finding a new
camcorder for under $500.00 that would serve your needs.

David R. suggested you look into a used Canon HV20 or 30 and I would
encourage you to do so.

As for tripods.......$50.00 to $100.00 good luck with that, let me
know how that works for you.

The latest tripod I bought for my own HV30 is a Libec THM-20 and I got
it from B & H in N.Y.
It is currently on their site for $179.95 plus shipping. I haven't
used mine much but so far I am quite happy with it.

missed what you wanted it for? however, $500 wont buy you much of
anything serious.

From his (inadequate) description, it doesn't sound like he needs it
for anything "serious".

in which case, $500 is probably over budget ;-)
