Don't have a Mac but I think you have to reset the preferences by
holding down Command+Option+Shift keys as you launch the application

If this is not correct then its something to do with the fonts.

Its not a reboot its relaunching CS2.

I can't remember now what happens it was something that stuck in my
mind. I think it loads up a whole heap of stuff when the application is
launched which includes the fonts and if you have a corrupt font it hangs.

Have you tried a fresh install? this may sort the problem as well.

I think you have more problems within the Mac system than just PShop.
Sorry I can't help anymore - unfamiliar with Mac's
