'Vueslide', but has some control over the time that each individual slide is
displayed?
Before you point out the slide show feature of WinXP, this program is to be
usable on Win98 machines.

I use ArcSoft PhotoBase, which allows a wide range of transition
effects, and variable timing. It's quite easy to use and allows you to
distribute slide shows freely to people who don't have the software. I
think I paid about 60 Euros to download it from (E-Mail Removed).
