I bought this camera a few years ago surplussed but have no information
on it and have no idea if it is in working condition. Can anyone
suggest where I could find a data sheet or wiring diagram so I could
test it? I've seen a $250 power supply for it which I hope is not an
absolute requirement, as I paid less than that for the camera.

Thanks!

I had the DXC-3000's once upon a time.
I'm not familiar with the 151's but they're designed for technical
work.
Should be useable for regular shooting though.
You should be able to get an aftermarket power supply, just match the
voltage, wattage and make damn sure to get the polarity right.
I have a box full of power transformers/adapters that I use on my
cameras. Range from 7.4v up to 12v. even the most expensive one only
cost me about 80 bucks.
Funny, I saw a couple of DXC cameras in my local Goodwill last month.
A 3000 and a later model that used hi8, both 3chip.
Went for 34 bucks each. I was slightly tempted but remembered how
futzy the chips were in my old ones and decided to pass. That and they
weigh 3 times what my current digital cams run.

On the DXC-151a I am stymied by the mysterious 12-pin power connector.
I also have an XC-117 and on that camera I am stumped by the mysterious
wiring interface board. With no documentation I am lost. I've been
searching the web but have found nothing useful.

Thanks

Try opening up the camera and doing a trace on the power leads.
They should be clearly marked on the edge of the circuit board which
is + and which -. Just use an ohms meter to check which lead matches
which pin on the connector and you'll have your power sussed out.
I guessing that the other pins will be for control of video gain and
zoom?
If Sony won't cooperate(big suprise there!) and give you the info on
that 12 pin then you might try any of the larger hospitals or medical
research firms/labs in you area. I'd think that there'd be at least
one that has one of these cameras and for sure they'd have a manual
for it.

Sony will sell you a service manual which will tell you what
the pinout is.

Or you could look up your local Sony service agency and see
if they will let you peek in their service manual.

The mating Lemo connector is almost certainly a stock item
at digikey.

I have a 151a with the same problem. Did a web search on the power supply model number and came up with the attached image. It's going to be a bit tricky getting it right without a female connector but, by taking apart a computer cable and utilizing the little connectors on the pins I might be able to make it work. Will keep you posted.

I just purchased one of these cameras myself, and would like to use it for production purposes. I'm just now looking for a power supply to run this. I'm thinking of using a battery pack though. If anyone has found a way to use a battery pack with this camera, please let me know.

We have been using these cameras for years with cheapo 13.8V DC power supplies. They are decent cameras for close work.
Wiring is tedious but simple.
Unfortunately, those stupid connectors are out of this world expensive. You might get away with attaching directly to the pins and providing good cord support...
