There has been a little bit of discussion/interest in this new digital
'standard' from Olympus/Kodak here in aus.photo so I thought I'd post this. Yesterday saw the announcement of the first camera to use the system, the Olympus E-1. It won't be available till Spetember-ish. There is a preview over at dpreview (as usual): http://www.dpreview.com/articles/olympuse1/ Basic specs: 5MP dSLR, RAW/JPG/TIFF modes, sRGB or Adobe (1998), ISO100-800 (up to 3200 with 'boost') Range of lenses: a.. ED 300 mm, F2.8 tele (600 mm) a.. E 14 - 54 mm, F2.8 - 3.5 zoom (28 - 108 mm) a.. ED 50 mm F2 macro (100 mm) a.. ED 50 - 200mm, F2.8 - F3.5 zoom (100 - 400 mm) a.. E 11 - 22mm, F2.8 - F3.5 zoom (21 - 44 mm) (available by end 2003) Have a look at www.dpreview.com for other stories or the official site: www.olympus-pro.com The "Supersonic Wave Filter" sounds interesting - auto-cleaning of CCD by vibrating it.
