10D file TFS question

Hey,

just wondering if I can transfer files BACK to my 10D when its hooked up to
the USB.

Ive read the manual and tried but havn't found anything. Ive done it with
other digicams.. can the 10D do it?

Yes, windows sees the camera as a storage device, you can put whatever you
like onto the cards. I've looked at photos from other digital cameras on my
10D before.

Ok how do I transfer them?
Ive tried all the obvious ways including accessing 10D throught my computer
and all the Canon progs but none allow me to drag/drop back to the camera.

Dunno, but I bet you can't display them once you've done so. I've seen
people complaining in various newsgroups about not being able to use a
Canon camera & a TV to do digital slideshows, by uploading JPEGS to the
camera. My understanding is that they's fussy about the JPEG format,
directory structure & the housekeeping files that it keeps in one of
those extra directories.
That said, these people were mostly talking about JPEGs that had been
modified on their PCs first, so maybe it'll work if you use unaltered
pictures? It's easy enough to find out - give it a try & let us know
whether it works.

TVWriter generates slideshows that will play on the 10D as well as they play on the 'G' series... I would
imagine Zoombrowser would support uploading, as it does on other Canon camera's, but I haven't bothered
installing it...

The question does come to mind of why you'd want to put them back on the camera - if it's just to move the
files around on the CF card use a card reader, it's much quicker...

I know I need to buy one, Im liviing in Vietnam and buying this beast
crunched my budget. I actually dont need one because I load my images from
card to image tank to laptop. Image tank doesnt support writting back to
card either.

I know I know.. go buy a card reader.

Actaully, Ive taken pics on my Minolta D7 and slipped the card into the 10D.
It not only shows the image but the exif details.
It doesnt work from canon to minolta tho.

Hi,

I've done the same. Taken pics with my nikon 5700, slipped the card into my
10D and viewed the image. Didnt check exif details tho. Haven't tried the
other way, as I've sold the 5700.

Hi Lionel,

TVWriter takes care of that... I put 584 images onto a 32mb card for a
slideshow to video for my mother...
