Default New Canon Digital SLR....

Anyone heard or has tried the Canon EOS 10D digital SLR?

I'm on the hunt for a new camera and I really like the sound of this
one. from what I read, the camera is adaltable for all shooting
conditions and it contains a larger selection of colours - which seems
ideal especially since most of the pic's I take require rich colour as
I'm abroad most of the time.

Can anyone make any recommedations... if anyone has looked at the new
Canon I'd love to know what you think!!!!

Have not tried it, I hear it is very good.

Are there more colours overseas? Can my monitor display them?

If you are serious about your photography, take a look at the review on the
imaging-resource website:

http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/E10D/E10DA.HTM

They seem to like it.
If money is no object, how about the Canon EOS-1DS? (11 megapixels and a
full-frame 35mm sensor! ooh yeah!!)

Chris.

I suggest you visit the www.dpreview.com website, and look at the forum
devoted to Canon SLRs. There's more information and opinion, (and in some
cases, ill-founded opinion), about the 10D than you'll be able to appreciate
before Canon release the next model!
I've found it generally very helpful, but keep a watch out for the mal-contents.
And I do like my 10D which I've now had for over 3 months. It's a great camera.

It isn't as brand new as you think, well in digital technology terms
that is. The 10D has been available for a few months and seems to be
dominating the DSLR market.

I have two 10D bodies, one bought 2 months ago and the other 2 weeks
ago. The big investment is in lenses, and getting 2 or 3 basic lenses
can cost as much as the camera body. If you get carried away you can buy
lenses that cost 5 times that of the body (my 500L for example). Work
out what you will need for the types of pictures you intend to take and
shop around for the best price.

Don't only look a the 10D review at www.dpreview.com, but also browse
the Canon SLR forum. Take everything you read with a huge pinch of salt,
but you will quickly pick up on what users think of the camera and more
importantly, lenses. My view of the 10D - 9.5 out of 10.

I can endorse what others have said in appreciation of the Canon EOS 10D
DSLR.
I bought a 10D over two months ago and have shot over 1000 pics since then.
I have been delighted with the results. I decided to opt for SIGMA lenses
after reading
an excellent review in Digital Photographer of their 15-30mm wide angle
zoom (at about £425 compared with the Canon equivalent at three times the
price).
SIGMA have an EX range specifically designed for DSLR's.

One very useful feature of the 10D is that it will set up to ISO 800 speed
with no
discernable noise and can be set up to ISO 3200.

I ended up getting three Sigma lenses
15-30mm F3.5 EX zoom
28-70mm F2.8 EX zoom
70-300mm F4-F5.6 zoom (not EX) but with macro @200-300mm

What was the -0.5 for?

If I were to guess what the -0.5 was for I would say the lack of a Firewire
Connection.
