All purpose lens (cannon 28-105mm or 28-135mm?)

I currently have an EOS 3000N and a 28-90mm lens that came in it's
kit. I've been advised to get a better lens and was initially thinking
about getting the cannon 28-105mm lens. However would it be better to
get a lens with a slightly longer focal length, say the 28-135mm.

Is there much difference between these two lenses in terms of
quality/price?
