My trusty, bulletproof, faithful Coolpix 950, which I've been using
without any problems for five years, must've gotten wind of the fact that Santa is bringing me a new camera, and so, in a fit of self-destructive jealously, has managed just today to break its own battery door. It's one of the little tabs on the door -- no damage to the body itself -- but the upshot is that I have to press and hold the door closed to get the camera to work. It seems like it should be easy enough to replace the battery door. The question is where to get a replacement? Does anyone have an old 950 laying around that could be scavenged for parts? Barring that, does anyone know of a good (viz. inexpensive) source for a replacement door? I don't want to chuck the 950, and I suppose I could use electrical tape or suchlike to hold the door closed, but that's so tacky... I'm afraid sending it to a Nikon dealer for service would cost more than a new Coolpix of similar or better features. Thanks in advance for any help, Scott Scott |
