Default USB Hotplug Disconnect

When I disconnect my Olympus C-765 camera from the usb, I get a warning that
I should disconnect the hot plug icon in the status bar because it could
cause my computer to crash.
What status bar? Is it in the Olympus software, in the camera, I see no such
icon on my pc. There is no mention of this in the help files or manual.
This is my first digital camera.
Thank you.

The "Status Bar" is that bar at the bottom of the windows "desktop".

When a USB device is connected to your computer you should see a USB icon
displayed down near the date (if you use XP)

To disconnect a USB device you should right click this USB icon and follow
your nose.

Personally, I just "pull the plug".

There was/is no icon in the status bar, I know that was the obvious place.
I'm running Me, USB 2.0, but that shouldn't matter. So it is safe to pull
the plug? Cool.
