The reason they have an avi extension is that they are compressed versions
of .avi format files (avi meanining audio/video interleaved). The format is
avi, the compression is MPEG4, the specific manipulation is Divx4 or 5, or
Xvid, or 3ivx, or WMV9, depending on whose codec you compress the avi with.
