Wait. Sodium Carbonate. Baking Powder? Does the BI mean much?

(obviously a chemist)

No. Sodium carbonate is commonly called washing soda. Baking power is a
combination of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and an acid such as tartaric
acid and sodium aluminum sulfate (alum).
