Question about file sizes for a CX7525 camera....

Hi I recently picked up a Kodak CX7525 5.0MP digital camera. I've
taken a few pics on the highest quality setting and when I check the
file size after transferring the pics to my computer they are anywhere
from 550KB to 750KB. To me that seems kind of small, a friend of
mine has a Sony 5.0MP camera and his file sizes are around 2MB. Mine
are coming up at less that 1MB? Anyone know why? Is the Kodak CX7525
5.0MP a true 5.0MP camera?
