20D vs 1D mkII

Discussion in 'Digital Cameras' started by you know who maybe, Nov 15, 2004.

  1. So the 20D sensor is the same but it's missing a lot of features, less focus
points, no weather-proofing. Is that basically it?

Though both 8MPix the 1DMkII has a physically larger sensor which gives a
    greater light gathering capability.

The Canon 1DMkII has many advantages over the 20D, check dpreview.com, here
    are some important ones (IMO):
    Water/dust seals
    45 pt AF
    AF at f8
    Faster more accurate AF
    8.5 fps (vs 5fps)
20 frames buffer RAW (vs 6)
40 frames buffer JPEG (vs 23)
More robust design, shutter good for over 200000 activations
Both CF and SD cards, can write both simultaneously
    Spot/multispot metering
    ISO 50 option
Integrated vertical grip (vs optional vertical grip)

Canon also claim a greater dynamic range on the 1DMkII. This could be
related to the larger pixels on the big sensor, the 20D has smaller pixels
than the 300D, 10D and 1DsMkII, whereas the 1DMkII has bigger pixels than
any of the other cameras in the current EOS range (except the older 1Ds if
    it is not yet discontinued).
