Premiere Pro Help-Copy and Paste Selected Frames (Not Clips)

Discussion in 'Amateur Video Production' started by HobbyDocumentary, Apr 3, 2006.

  1. Dear All,

    1) As a beginner I tried a lot, to copy the required frames from a clip
and paste it into another position in the same clip .But it only copies
and does not paste ( the paste command dims out in Edit).

The help and tutorials I have gone through allow only clips to be moved
around in a sequence but the frames can only be Lifted or Extracted,
but not allowed to be pasted anywhere.

    2) Second I can't find a command that allows a clip to be shown in the
    form of frames

    3) Third the effects don't show up as thumbnails demonstrating the
effect they'll produce as in Ulead and Pinnacle

    Please help

  2. On the far left of the track are some little box icons. One of them has the
show frames command in it. The timeline slider on the far lower left will
approximate single frame mode when slid to the far right. In order to cut
and paste a single frame you need to actually cut the frame you want from
the others with the Razor tool. Then again cut where you want the frame to
be placed. Place the timeline cursor at that point where the frame goes and
    paste it there.

It works. Thanks a lot Sir.I was missing the slider. But I am
dissappointed by Premire's inability to copy / paste selected frames
without going into creating new clips by razor.I did however see the
facility in another software, that I'll have to recall.

    Thanks once again.

Perhaps you missed something there. You do not have to create a new clip of
the frame. Set the timeline slider as far to the right as possible. Use the
small icon on the left of the track to show frames. Use the razor tool to
cut the frame from the others - cut to the left of the frame AND to the
right of the frame. Sorry, just trying to be as specific as possible.

Select the pick tool and right click on the frame you just cut out. In the
pop-out menu select copy. Now go to the area where you want the frame to be
placed and use the razor tool to cut there as well. Place the timeline
cursor at that cut mark. Go to edit on the main menu and select paste, or
    use the keyboard shortcut CTRL+V.
