Need to buy a tripod soon around the $100-$150. Will be short term use
as my Slik has died prematurely, before I have finances for a decent
setup. Have seen a Giotto HD-324 and various Optex for in this
bracket. Any suggestions and online places to buy??

Thanks
Simo

I have seen the Manfrotto 190D and 141RC head combo sell second hand for
$150ish on a few occasions. I bought a set on behalf of a friend a few
months back.

If you don't mind pre-loved try tradingpost.com.au or ebay

What Ken has said buy something that will last, its cheaper in the long
run, and the 190 is a good sturdy tripod without going over the top.

For the head I prefer a ball to use which will also carry and store better.

Those other things you mention are junk IMO. Try the twist test and see
how much they flex.

Thanks to all for the advice. I am well aware the tripods I mentioned
are a joke, just needed something within 2 weeks for a wedding, and I'm
not really metro to anywhere. I'll see if I can ebay myself a
Manfrotto.

Thanks again

Is it a night wedding???

Just joking

I would think that you could really do without a wedding at a tripod.
(don't get me wrong.. I use one but for fewer shots than you might think)
Whack in a roll of faster film for the service .. assuming it's
indoors... lets face it... it is not good having pin sharp church
internals if the bride and groom are a blur.

Thanks for the advice Brenton! Next TRIPOD I go to I'll try it without
the WEDDING! :dD

Seriously though, I use it for the occasional shot, and we throw a
small video camera on it during the ceremony.

Ok, down to a Manfrotto 190CL and either a 141RC pan tilt head or a
484RC2 mini ball head. Opinions of which would be the better head and
why would be appreciated?

Thanks
