Hi,

Does anyone know of anice, free, powerful video editing tool that works
for MP4,M4V, etc?

Basically, I am looking for an equivalent to VirtualDub (which is .avi
only).

Cheers

THere is no such thing, since these codecs cost money.

If one is desperate, be aware that the "Pro" (registered) version of
Apple's QuickTime Player program (U.S. $29.99) does cuts-only editing,
plus a few other simple manipulations, of both regular MP4 and H.264
AVC/AAC encoded .mp4 files.

You can edit MP4 with VirtualDub and create a new AVI file after. What
you need to do is obtain AVISynth at www.avisynth.org. I could help you
with a simple script to open the file in VirtualDub - but I need to know
if you are still around before I go through the process. If still
interested - give me a holler and I will walk you through the steps.
