I'm not quite sure what I'm after; I've hunted through a lot of
real-time music visualization stuff, but not seen anything that fits the
rather woolly ideas in my mind.....

Anyway, do people remember one of the /older/ Dr Who title sequences? It
showed an abstract 'fluffy' image metamorphosing into an image of the
esteemed Dr's head, then away again.

I'm after something sort of a cross between that and the (rather good)
music visualization stuff that's around. I want to take my music track,
a predefined set of images and times, and have the images gradually
appear and disappear with abstract visualisations between. Doesn't
particularly have to be real-time, in fact probably couldn't be given
the look-ahead that would be needed.

If that's not totally unclear, would anyone have any ideas please about
where to look. Ideas of likely freeware would be most excellent :-)

Thanks!

Best thing to do is get yourself a decent video editing package.
Assuming you can capture the output from the music visualization programs
as a video file (that may be tricky and involve the use of a graphics card
with a video-out connector on one PC and a second 2nd PC with video
capture capability to capture that signal), you can then mix, fade, use the
editors' built-in effects etc., etc, to your hearts' content!

HTH,

I'd forgotten about winmorph - I last looked at it years ago. I'm not
sure about getting pretty effects in between, but will give the matter
some thought.

I've also picked up an interesting piece of code called 'processing'.
Java-based programming system, with easy video output for drawing. Comes
with some natty "artificial life" examples. Might have some use for this
job; I just need to mug up on java first :-)
