Firmware update version 1.0.1 for the Canon EOS 10D is available at this

EOS 10D Firmware Version 1.0.1 resolves the following issues:
1.. It increases the reliability of USB communication when the camera's
    direct print function is used.
2.. It corrects a typographical error on the simplified Chinese language
    version of the MENU.

Just think of all the Chinese 10D menu items you could have been browsing!
-Or just think of all the direct printing you could have done with a camera
that really requires post-processing (does anyone with a 10D really use
    direct print???).
This firmware update is about the most boring to date...

I wonder too, about the direct print. I could see it perhaps being
useful to someone shooting at an event and printing on site. But it
still seems like it would be better to shoot JPEG and transfer to a
computer for printing, so you could keep on shooting.

The 10D has all the features I want, and more.

Direct printing is one of the "and more".

And I wasn’t criticizing Canon either. I own lots of stuff which come with
features that I don’t want. Unless a company tailors a product
specifically for me than there are going to be features that I don’t care

    This applies to my:
    Video Recorder
    Windows XP

All these have features I want and more.

That's a nice way of putting it.
I suspect it was one of those easy things to stick in there due to the
processor, and they figured they might pull in a few more naive newbies with
    one more sales pitch line.
