Just read this on the Canon forum at DPREVIEW, does anyone have any
    info on this?

"Just heard that the 20D review is being held up at Canon's
request,,,they've asked DPReview to assist in a beta test of a 2.x
firmware upgrade which will resolve several issues."

It is just a rumor a "friend of mine that works for heard from a friend of
his that..." type of rumor. Not that it couldn't be true, but I wouldn't go
holding my breath. Canon so far has been incompetent with regards to fixing
the problems some people are having with the 20D. I also find it strange
that they would go from a 1.05 to a 2.xx firmware. While there are a fair
number of little bugs in the thing I don't think there is enough to make
that big a jump in firmware numbers.

I would trust this rumor more if the owner of DPReview was to say "Yes, they
have asked me to hold of on my final review until the new firmware comes
out." But, he hasn't said a word. I also, don't like the fact that this
suggests and he is willing to hold a review so the problems can be fixed so
that it makes the camera look like it is problem free. That is not what
    reviews are for.

  3. Hmmm. I guess all that stuf about how good SD9 Sigmas are is pretty
    accurate too eh? NOT!

DP review is like any other publication. They rely on advertisers for
their existance. They rely on manufacturers for their review products.
Now who would slam their source of revenue and the source of review
products just to cut their own throat and end their existance? At the
end of it all the poor reader is the one who is need ed least of all.

Actually, few companies that I have ever worked with have had any say in
how, when or what is contained in a review. I have been reviewing software
and hardware since 1992. The fact that DPReview has ads may play a small
part but the companies do not control the reviews. If they do then DPReview
is 100% worthless because then they are nothing but the companies marketing
mouth piece and that means they can't be trusted. I doubt that is the case.
