A couple years back my 430EZ started making horrible clicking sounds.
I took the batteries out and put it on a shelf. Last week I sent it to
Canon Repair in Irvine, with a note saying that if it can't be fixed
they should either recycle it or toss it, as it wasn't doing me any
    good.

Today they e-mailed me: "We are returning your SPEEDLITE 430EZ to you
un-repaired. We regret that we could not be of further assistance.
Your equipment has been shipped back to you."

Okay, so Canon can't or won't repair it. Does anybody? If not, looks
like Canon just wasted ten bucks on FedEx fees.
