I would look at one that takes both AA and recharge. Digital cameras are
much more economical now and some will get 350 shot per recharge.

Have a look at the SAMSUNG! and the HP, Nikon etc. there are a few now.

Do 5Mp small sensor cameras give good results or are they just
acceptable results??? How far do they surpass a 3 or 4 Mp in the
    printed results?

Are they worth buying or is it just the hype.

  3. Dont rule out the Olympus C50 or C5050 cameras - both are very high quality.
The C5050 takes Lithium or AA batteries, and also has a very bright F1.8

What about Nikon Coolpix 5700? Any opinions on this camera?

  5. Thats very high end...looked like a nice camera but out the price range for
compacts for most, I would think it be better going for a SLR....a G5 or
    Coolpix 5400

  6. again, read the reviews at dpreview.com. from memory this camera was OK but
suffered from the usual nikon prosumer body problems- slightly lower image
quality, slow lens, high noise, blown highlights, chromatic abberation etc
etc. not a *bad* camera by any means, but a step below eg. canon and oly who
seem better in this market, with canon using cheap CF media as a bonus

really it's up to you, go to a store and try them out in person.
