Adobe Encore - summary?

Discussion in 'Amateur Video Production' started by James Gifford, Feb 4, 2004.

  1. The weakest link in my video tools is the DVD making apps. I have several,
but all are - IMHO - consumer junk for weenies. MyDVD, DVDit! SE and PE,
Sonic DVD Maker... all of them are E-Z hand-holding drag-and-drop crap. If
there's the slightest problem with a file, they barf and wag a finger at
you, but don't tell you anything useful or offer a fix.

    Okay, rant over.

I would have gone with something like ReelDVD a long time ago, but my needs
then were basic and my needs now are still pretty simple. Encore looks like
a very good fit in the cost/value/power ratio, and I like Adobe tools in
    general.

I haven't been able to find a good hands-on review. Can anyone point me to
one, or post a summary here? (I also can't get to adobe.com and about half
the net today... don't know why!)

    Thanks!

  3. You could try DVD-Lab (mediachance.com). Not quite as powerful as
ReelDVD, but a fraction of the price and a huge step up from the MyDVD
    crowd.
