I have a simple video clip of a pulsating white blob on a black
background. I would like to link this pulsation to a jpeg of a tree that
would distort/bend to match the pulses. The changes in the blob would drive
the changes in the tree layer. The white blob visibility would be hidden,
i.e. the final result is to have only the tree bend to that rhythm (about 10
seconds long). It seems that AE should be able to do this but I'm not sure
where to start. I have AE 6.5 standard. Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    expression

You may need to use an expression .. I think that's what they are called in after effects...

    I usually download a template from aeprojects.biz

I used a template from there to put my wedding photos in.. it was pretty cool.

It's a tough program for me to grasp, being a still shot kind of a person. The site helped though.
