  2. WOW! That's hot! You could probably fry an egg on the sidewalk. I
    truly feel for you guys.
I wish I could send you some of my homemade iced tea and lemonade.
    Guaranteed to beat the heat.
    Stay cool my friend,
    Helen

  6. Oh, really? And just how much heat is generated by all those lights? - And
how much CO2 from burning the coal to generate all that electricity?

That is well managed. We only use power from the four (non polluting
environmental friendly low radiation fuel from Iran) nuclear
generating plants in the Chicago area- their byproduct is steam,
harmless h2o, we do not use incandescent bulbs (the emission of
visible light by a body, caused by high temperatures) - we use only
florescence bulbs (the act, state, or period of flowering; bloom),
99.999999911% of our autos are hybrid, non polluting emissions,
personal transportation is limited to Segway two wheel monovehicles
(Harley's and such are banned), all cigarette and cannabis smoking is
prohibitted but the smoking of cigars ia allowable (as long as they
are not Cuban and the ring size is limited to 64 or smaller). All
citizens have voluntarily signed an agreement not to eat
gastrointestial foods like cabbage and onions which result in extreme
farting (very, very toxic). Supplemental summer electrical needs are
fulfilled from coal firing plants in Wi & Indiana, who have no
environmental standards. Chicago is well managed.P.S., further more
the Chgo City Council just passed an ordinance to further limit hot
air by prohibiting the admittace of one Mr. Sharpton. DATA SOURCE:

  8. Al Gore was right, it's all that penguin flatulence that is blowing holes in
the ozone layer that is causing global warming.

I don't want to pick on SF, Chgo by far much more deserves to be a
    target for criticism.

You ain't seen smog and pollution until you're been to India. It's
where all the American industries too greedy or lazy to comply with
environmental requirements in the USA send their factories. Rest easy
guys... It's not you who can't breath at night, you get to wear the
cheap clothes and buy the cheap fertilizer their pollution makes
    possible.

And then there's China... Why on earth would they soak the shirts they
make for 50¢ each in embalming fluid before they send 'em off to the
western world? Surely they don't hate us bad enough to strip the skin
from our children when they done clothes made in China? Hmmm Maybe
this is how they plan to win the next Olympics?

Hey! - I well remember listening to the hippies back in the 60's when they
were talking about giving up on isolationism and joining the "World
Community"....Now, they (and we) are reaping the policies that they helped
    to impliment......

RP, thats why I won't single out SF......Chgo and its politics is a
blight in America....the only saving grace about the recent sewage is
that it is at least bio-degradable....not that that makes it o.k. to
degrade the greatest natural resource on the planet.

Sure.... the 1 billion gallons of untreated sewerage Chicago dumped
into Lake Michigan last Thursday makes the BP issue look like a
    booger.
Don't think I'll be swimming at North Ave. for a while.

  16. We joined the world but not in the proper spirit of "community".

"Joining the World community" means drinking their water, getting paid their
salery, and breathing their air. Maybe we haven't become full fledged
members yet, but sooner or later, it's going to come to that......

I used to scuba dive the lake in both 60/70's and could not see 15
    feet from my face mask!

Agree. I am totally against the BP expansion. So much work was done
over the last 30 years to clean up the Lake that I cringe at taking
    steps backward.
Me thinks the deep tunnel needs to get a bit deeper to relieve the
pressure on waste water treatment. The 10 inches of rain last week was
an anomaly but we will see it many more times in the future. It's
unreal how the Borman is STILL closed today. Seeing how I commute to
Hootersville everyday, what a pain in da ass.
Don't know how old you are Wayne, but do you remember what the
lakefront looked like in the '60's and '70's.... yeeeech.

Do you still scuba in the Lake?
If so, has the visibility improved much?

  20. Do you guys mean to tell me that Chicago doesn't treat their sewage before
they dump it into the lake? I thought primary treatment (at least) was a
    federal law......
