I am planning to upgrade my Canon A20 to the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20.
5 megs pixels and a whoppping 12X optical zoom at less than $600. It
has Leica lens and good reviews from Steve's Camera's. Any opinion
from users and experts will be appreciated.

It's a great camera. My friend has it and mine just came on wed.( I got it
for $494 at electrodiscouts.com). All the reviews I read said that the
camera is very good and I think they are right. The only downside if you
call it that is the camera only comes with a 16mb card.

Everything I've heard about the FZ20 is VERY favorable and I will probably
get one this week; here in Canada it will be C$800 + 7% tax and then I plan
to get a 1Gb SD card ("brand name") also.

I bought the Canon EOS 20D but the shutter noise was so bad I could not use
    it for wildlife.

Hope we both like the Panasonic!!

It's a piece of junk. Even disposable camera's accidentally dropped in water
    make better pictures after drying.

Plonker, I just now (July 28) buy one and so far it seems fantastic! Bet you
were unfortunate enough to wind up with a "lemon." Maybe you can take it
back? (assuming you did buy one)
