any way to do this on the Rebel?

Does anyone know of a way to fool the Rebel 350D into thinking it has a lens
attached, so the shutter/ aperture and actuation functions are enabled? I
need the camera to be fully operable without the lens.

    Thanks,
    Jerry

  2. An idea would be the use of a M42-Canon-EF-adapter with an AF confirm chip.
So you have the bare camera, with a M42 mount, and the camera thinking a
    lens is attached.
I have bought such a part on eBay U.K. last year for 15 GBP, S&H included.

    Hope that helps,

I just tried it with my 350D. With no lens attached, it seems to work fine.
Metering works, the shutter fires in all modes.

If you want aperture control and automatic shutter speed selection, use
aperture priority mode. If you want full control, then manual mode will let
you choose aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and read the meter.

It behaves the same with no lens as when using a manual focus manual lens.
