Sorry all, am sure this has already been asked, but cannot find an
active link in the old threads.

Anyone had any good or bad experiences with them?

    cheers

Ordered on a Monday afternoon. Emailed a tracking number on Tuesday morning.
Arrived on the Gold Coast Thursday lunchtime.
It was a scanner and at a good price and good service.

A good friend at work bought a DSLR from them 12 months ago and was perfectly
    happy with them.

Yes, lots, and none of it has anything to do with bigotted right-wing

Whats this got to do with the original question????/
Had me baffled until I had to read the full thread from Google and then I
saw the reply from "David Springthorpe"
I killfiled this guy a long time ago.
I've never seen so many inane shart word replies to numerous threads that
kills the original question so quickly (such as this example)

  9. Had a very quick look after not visiting for a while - some photography things
seem cheaper / some dearer than Dirt Cheap Cameras.....

    Hi all,

    Thanks for the useful responses.

As an update, I am looking at a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L USM lens. After a
few emails, I have figured it is coming from the US. They say they
have it in stock, but when asked about the warranty, they say it comes
with Mackcam.com international warranty. When asked about Australian
warranty and if the product was being brough in from overseas, they
again stated that "Mackcam have an WorldWide Warranty which covers the
item anywhere in the world as long as it is repaired by an authorised
repairer." So they appear to be avoiding my question. Not good
    business karma.

Asked in the original email about shipping including registered and
insured, they said $13.00. I asked if they were sure... they said "The
$13.00 doe snot cover insurance. To get a complete calculation add it
to the trolley and follow the prompts." The website says that an email
will be sent once you place the order telling you how much the
shipping will be. Once you agree to it, they hit your credit card
(although they already have the details by this step). So, "following
the prompts" as they suggest is me making an order.

Hmmmmm.... concerned? Hell yeah, it's a $2000 plus lens! Thanks for
all your help guys and gals, but I think I'll be buying it from
somewhere I can trust here in Australia. Even if I have to pay a
little more for peace of mind.

  12. If I were you I would check with Canon Australia regarding their lens
warranty as I believe that Canon lens have an international warranty.
It appears that the lens you have been checking out is a grey market
one for the U.S. hence the Mack warranty. My advice to you is if I am
correct about the warranty and you want the savings by buying in the
U.S. then buy from either B & H or Adorama and do give the Mack a
    miss.

    Hi Eric,

I checked th Canon website here in Oz and I can't find anything about
their warranty regarding the lenses. Do you know of a link in
particular? I emailed Canon about it, but as yet am still waiting to
    get a reply.

Has anybody else bought L series overseas and had it serviced here
    under warranty?

    Cheers,
    Greg.

Canon Lens warranty is worldwide, your experience with DSLR bodies may be a
different story, depending on who books the job in.

But there is also stuff that is Canon Inc USA warentee only, so get the
    grey market one.

Incorrect. USA warranty as referred to by US online stores, is the warranty
to get. Canon will honour any warranty claims on a USA lens with USA
warranty - the documentation included in the box, makes it clear that these
lenses have worldwide waranty. Grey market is a bit of an iffy matter. Some
people (colleagues and friends) have been told by Canon Australia that they
will not honour USA bough Grey Import warranties, whilst others have said
that they will. (In the USA, grey imports are not covered by Canon warranty,
so why would they be here?)

Now, for the OP, if buying from centre.net.au, the price will be 2097 for
the non IS, or 3368 for the lens with IS (plus shipping, insurance...)

Buying from B&H in the steates, you are looking at 1808 for the non IS, 2565
for the IS (assuming 1AUD=0.75USD, UPS shipping, GST, and $52 customs
charge - these are the USA warranty items, and doesn't include the rebate
    available to US residents)

    Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for that. Canon still hasn't replied to my email,
think I'll give 'em a call in a minute.
But your info certainly gives me something else to think about.

The only thing they can possibly say in an email, you don't want to hear.
So don't hold your breath for the email. If you have a real problem and
a good enough sob-story then you are in their human hands rather than in
    the grip of a policy.
