I think the 'htm' business was a ploy by Microsoft to subvert the use of
the proper and fitting 'html' suffix. It hasn't worked too well..

I'm preparing my website to be deployed to a Linux machine which will
be powered by Apache.. Which also means I will be dumping Microsoft
    based editing etc.

By Jan 04, I will be completely Microsoft free..

  7. Impossible. Linux is the Gnu/FSF standard operating kernel, owned by Linus
Torvalds, who has put it under the Gnu Foundations Public License, or
"copyleft". Which means they can do anything they like with it, except
make it proprietary, including whatever code they add. You buy it, you get
the source, and what you buy is not a EULA but the physical media itself.

If M$ ever tried "embracing and extending" Linux, the very first sale would
have to include (at least the offer of without addition cost) *all* of
their source code. Not a profitable venture, of course, and once having
embraced open source, they'd be hounded from then on to have *all* their
source code inspected by an independent review *not* under their power.

    Heh!
