AAA Duracel batteries now made in PRC - China
and for the first time ever I've had a AAA battery LEAK real BAD.

Luckly the acid was able to be cleaned up.
Always purchased Duracells since engergisers leaked and ate contacts
(Especially if you kept them installed for a long time)

If your in the USA are your duracells made in the USA?

They were the best ones I remember using.
In Australia we now get them from China ! and I am no longer Duracel
    customer after whats happened.

So I've now switched to Toshibas made in Japan, but I'm not sure how
they will perform or age well.

Any other good battery brand / country of origin recommendations ?
    Please advise.

I always understood the Belgium ones were the best.

Bizarrely the only batteries I have ever had leak were Duracells, and
I've even had one change polarity(!)

I only use rechargeables now, so far no leaks.

I've had Toshiba batteries leak TWICE in a Nikon MD-12 motor drive...and the
thing that got me ticked off more than even that was there is NO WAY to find
the entity responsible for making them and to even complain (let alone hold
them responsible). If you don't believe me, check out their website...when
you come up empty there, try a phone search in the U.S. I found (and
called) over 19 divisions in various states and never could find who was
responsible for the batteries...so, they are on my permanent sh** list and
I'll never buy ANY product of theirs again.

For your sake, I hope YMMV.

BTW, the first repair to the MD-12 was $100. THEN I got another batch of
    batteries that did it again.

All the ones currently on store shelves around here appear to be.

Don't know what the future has in store, since most stores will sell
older stock first. Even if the new ones are manufactured in PRC, it's
going to take a while before they show up on the shelves.
