    Hi there.

I have used Nikon and Canon 4MP cameras and also seen some excellent shots from
Olympus. Out of the current models, which is the best value for money at the
moment. Looking to buy one for my mother, so we naturally want ease of use,
super sharp images and to fit in her handbag. We would like to spend less than
US$450. Manual features are a bonus (if I borrow it ;-) ). The Nikon 4200 seems
nice. Seems alot better than our 4300. Canon's seem ok, but disposable batteries
end up costing to much. A friend has a black Olympus (not sure of model) with a
decently huge lens. It takes super sharp images.

Cameras in New Zealand are way behind, so we can test many current models. We
would be buying overseas via a friend.

    Thanks in advance,

My old Canon S20 uses disposable lithium batteries, but I've still
got the original battery that came with it, since I also bought
Canon's rechargeable NiMH battery and charger when I bought the
camera. Newer Canon cameras probably use optional Lithium Ion
rechargeable batteries. In the future, I'll probably only purchase
a camera that accepts AA batteries, since high capacity AA NiMH
batteries are very inexpensive, can be bought anywhere, and won't
become obsolete and unavailable as proprietary batteries tend to do.
