    Hey --
I've been looking for prosumer/professional cameras $2000 or below.
Right now I have my sights set on the Canon GL2, because I think its
the best quality before moving up to HD. My budget strictly allows for
only $2000 and under, so I think HD is out of the question. However, if
anyone has any other suggestions, I'd like to hear what people have to
say before I make a final decision. Thanks.

Sony VX2100 (though you'll have to shop a bit to hit that $2000 mark --
usual street price is around $2200). Consensus is that it offers the most
bang for the buck, has a better image than the GL2, and has low-light
    performance that is extraordinary.

Here's a link to a company in New Jersey that's listing the GL2 for
$1,499.00. That's new. Pretty incredible price. I have nothing to
do with the company. I've been checking out prices on various
pieces of gear and saw this one earlier today. Hope that helps.

When these companies are advertising impossibly low prices, that's
exactly what it is. They get you to call or try to buy, then they sock
it to you. You end up paying more than a good company would charge in
the first place. And you may or may not get what you ordered.

    Hey--
Thanks for the great advice. I've now opened up my sights to the
VX2100. However, I don't seem to be able to find anywhere where it is
$2200 as stated. Can you help me out?

Cool thanks a lot everyone, after looking over the Sony model I think
it does in fact look better than the GL2 and is probobly where i'll
    focus my attention.
