    Hello all,

I'm looking for a basic freeware photo/image editor for windows XP.

I'm looking for a program with which cropping, auto exposure and basic
drawing (freehand circling stuff in red for example) can be achieved very
easily, and very prefereably WITHOUT any nagging pop-ups asking me the buy
the complete edition of the prog. I'm looking for an authentic freeware, à
    la IrfanView.

I have experimenting with a lot of image editor freeware and i'm not at all
impressed with what i've tried so far. I tried Pixia (japanese freeware,
sucks), VCW VicMan (looks good but nagging pop-ups and limited functionality
with the free version), GIMP (best so far but far too complex for what i
    want to do).

the ideal software would be something like the $$$ software ACD Systems
    Photo Editor (aka FotoCanvas).

    thanks for helping me out

Try this one, I do not use it because I work under Linux, but I have seen it
some months ago, and it was very good and light, maybe he has updated it, I
    do not know

other than GIMP. i'm not looking for something as complicated as GIMP, some

BTW, i tried PhotoFiltre and it's EXACTLY what i'm looking for. However, i
will be migrating to Linux pretty soon on my home system, and am wondering
which *simple* image editor, à la Photofiltre, to get.

I use almost always The Gimp.
There is a set of tools (ImageMagick) which I used some times, but rarely.
The kind of PhotoFiltre I don't know, there can be someone, I just don't
    know.
Even The Gimp I use an old version :))
I do not update since 3 years ago, a lot of trouble now to update, so maybe
I will when I update the hardware :)
