What is the best way to convert multiple photos from 16 bit to 8 bit?
I've a quantity of photos at 16 bit Tiff in folders.
I'd like to convert all the images in all the folders to 8 bit.
What is the quickest and easiest way...?

I have CS2, Lightroom and Irfanview

I'd also like to do a resize of all those images, in their folders such that
the shortest size is 3000 pixels long. I'm aware that I can do them
individually using Genuine Fractals, but ideally I'd like to do the lot in a
batch wiothout having to open up each folder to open the images to carry out
    the task.

Irfanview will do it all in one shot, including size selection, using
its batch processing mode. I suggest you save the results to a
separate folder, which you can specify.
