Bogen 3229 or 3232 Monopod Head?

I've seen web pages recommending the 3232 head with an Acra-type quick
release. But I see that the 3229 is much cheaper. It looks like the QR on
the 3229 is plastic. So does it weigh less that a 3232 + QR? Is there some
    downside to a 3229?

It looks like the difference is just that one comes with the quick release
and the other doesn't. If you're already using the Bogen quick release,
then get the one with that, and if not, you'd be better off sticking to
    the Arca-type release anyway.

Also, make sure that kind of head is what you want; I find those so
restrictive that it makes a monopod useless. I wouldn't want to use one
without at least a small ball head.

I just got a 3229 for my monopod and no part of the QR mechanism is plastic.
All metal from what I can see and feel.

A ball head? But if you need to pan the camera why not simply twist
    the monopod?

That doesn't help at all with up and down or anything else. You're stuck
with the camera pointing in the direction it's pointing, and you have to
actually move the whole monopod to change it a little. I'd rather not
use one at all than use that kind of head. (But others like them just
fine, so I'm just saying, think about it if you've never tried it.)
