Book on lighting?

  1. can someone recommend a good book on lighting for 3 chip camcorders to help
    make it look more like film??

  2. Hmm, if you want it to look like film, light it like film (simple
    advice huh? ;-) ).
    Anyway, the Gerald Millerson book about "lighting for film and
    television" is a good start, but there was recently a book released
    especialy for lighting for digital video. It really doesn't matter
    what you light for. As long as you learn to live within the limits of
    your recording-medium. And since every recording medium has different
    characteristics, you have to experiment to find them out for your
    With digital you just have to be carefull with the highlights, because
    if they blow-out, things start looking ugly (remember reversal-film?
    think film=negative film; video=reversal film).
