I'm looking for a new mini dv prosummer camera such as Sony TVR950 or
Canon GL2. Trouble is none of the camera or electronics stores carry
any higher end cameras. So, I can't get the feel of any of these
camera of any useful info from sales people.

Can anyone give me a heads up on what's the best in this catagory or
any other useful info about these or others I should be looking at?

I have had a Sony TRV 900 for several years, it was working fine until I
accidently droped it on the floor and since then, after taking it to the
repair shop, the audio frequently skips. Thus I am waiting on the up coming
Samsung Digital Gadget ITCAM-7, which is an all in one divice(camcorder,
audio recorder(mp3),still camera, raw document data storage) that is very
light weight, i.e., less chance of dropping on the floor, and no tape, all
the data is on a 1.5GB drive, plus there is a memory stick slot. The
proposed opening cost is only 500 dollars. Release date for the item is
    January 2004.

My advice, wait, better, breakthrough technology is around the corner.
