It is marketing input to say "Include that" whether or not a marketing
    person actually types it.[/QUOTE]

Huh? How is that even relevant. This is the claim that started it all:

in many organizations even the owners manual has to be passed
through marketing. Showing all of the super features

Whether or not a text is "marketing input" (whatever that is supposed to
mean) is not the question, it is whether the owner's manual has been
    passed through the marketing department.
Indeed. Marketing is not an "involved" department.

    I will use your terms: Accounting, (for reporting to shareholders;) tax;
Rte making (for those industries whose rates are subject to review by
regulatory authorities. What you call banking is really cash flow
accounting. (Common is the real estate and mining industries. And what I
think you refer to, is the adjustments that are made as a result of a
due diligence study of the financial statements, and a projection study.
e.g. I was asked to determine the value of a small airline, that showed
high profits. The most cursory review showed that in inadequate amount
had been spent for maintenance, and payroll expense was seriously
    understated.
In the case of a business, a deduction must meet three tests. millions
of words have been written to define the test for IRS purposes.
Ordinary, necessary and reasonable. Meet that test and you have the
deduction. (There are certain types of expenses that have statutory
    limits and statutory documentation.)

Depreciation and amortization are a means of allocating the cost of an
asset over its useful life. the tax code contains incentives to
stimulate economic growth and repay political favors. therefor, tax
depreciation is often shorter than book depreciation. To complicate
things, State tax depreciation rates do not always conform to the
    Federal rates.

Now can we please get back to photography.

Isn't that one of the main selling points for the 4/3 system?

    OK!
The two of us as hobbyist amateur photographers don't have the
privilege to "depreciate" our camera equipment the way pros can. Makes
me think I should incorporate as "Savageduck Studios" and start dealing
with the material assets and running expenses such as travel &
subsistence, to, from, & at locations, CC rental etc..

I'm not hung up on it all. This was all part of demonstrating that
manuals contain advertising / marketing materials from the company
    making the product.

Nikon would be neglectful not to!

Interchangeability yes - but I doubt each manufacturer of bodies touts
    the others lenses too hard.

    Example:
    http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/DMCGH2.PDF

    QUOTES follow:
If any accessories are lost, customers in the USA and Puerto Rico should
contact Panasonic’s parts department at 1-800-833-9626.

Beginning around p. 196 they mention all sorts of Panasonic accessories
and a few Panasonic lenses - no mention of another manufacturer.

Beside: "Mount" they list: "“Micro Four Thirds Mount”
with no suggestion that any other co. makes them.

In the fine print at the end of the manual where all the various trade
marks and so on are listed there is: "Micro Four Thirds™ and Micro Four
Thirds Logo marks are trademarks or registered trademarks of Olympus
Imaging Corporation, in Japan, the United States, the European Union and
    other countries"

But no suggestion of lenses from Olympus (or anyone else) in the manual.

I don't know about CA but in QC one would have to show a going concern
with at least two clients before depreciating gear and expensing T&L and
so on for income tax purposes; as well as invoices to reduce VAT
    payments against expense VAT paid.

    Perhaps Wolfie's Swedish cousin?

It seems we have several vortices in the photo NGs ready to suck in the
unwary and spin them down to unrecoverable depths.

Hey! Just a preposterous, tongue-in-cheek brain fart to bring things
back to photography as Peter suggested.

That's weird, you seem to just hitting wildly in the air now. Who am I
    supposedly trolling? For what purpose?

I haven't been rude, or insulting. I have substantiated everything
I've said and been consistent and reasonable.

You, on the other hand, have been nothing of the kind. And yet I am
    the supposed troll?

    That's just weird...

There have been a couple similarly behaved posters in some non photo
