Cable needed from Acer 1240UT scanner base to Transparency Adaptor

My father puchased this scanner with a TA so he could scan old photos and
negatives. One of the 9 pins in the Mini Din connector borke off and so I
need to replace it. The TA is the whole cover and will scan a transparent
object up to about 6 by 8 inches.

I have been able to get a new connector but cannot figure out the colour
codes for connecting the pins. The back of the connector was filled with
parafin wax to keep the leads separated, so the only way I could get that
out was to burn it but then the leads burned, too and I did not get the
connection;-(

I tried dealing with Benq who took over from Acer Peripherals but they were
unable to provide the cable. They also would not provide schematic info to
connect the leads.

ANy help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Very detailed and it would help if it only had 4 more leads.

Mine uses all 9 pins on the Mini DIN and has a 2x5 connector at the other
end with one spot filled in with plastic.

Hindsight says I should have done the ohmmeter trick too;-((
