How typical of you. Another post that's irrelevant, off-topic,
off-thread, and (in this case) off-newsgroup.

You continue to remind us that you can't (or won't) contribute anything
of value or interest - having to revert to snide innuendo.

    Sad, sad person...

Nope, I prefer the term 'if its not broke don't fix it'

Its is sad really but always the case nonetheless. Think a debate on
paedophiles wouldn't cause as much flaming as the dreaded 'Top Posting',
sorry did I mention the T word.

I've heard that in parts of Asia the sentence for top posting is amputation
    of both your mouse fingers.

Maybe the punishment should fit the crime. Cut off all the unnecessary
bits, then amputate the head and place it up the arse. :)

But it is, read any report on Outlook Express and you will see, even MS
    admit it is broken !

You are just to thick headed to understand I suspect.

Do you know how to use kill files, I do, Bye !

Ok, educate me, maybe I am thick headed, selfish or whatever, what is the
best newsreader/email program to use, what is a kill file and any other
useful stuff to help me be an altogether better newsgroup user.

Any recommendations for the best way to get it up there, how did you manage
    to do yours?

    Whale lard, but I digress.

Do you know what symbols like :) mean? In this case it means I was in
agreement with your sentiment and expanding on it with a little humour of my
    own.

Personally I couldn't care less if people top post or not. It doesn't stop
    me from following a thread.

Here Here, can anyone recommend a good newsreader and email program? Tried
Incredimail but is only for email and when I went back to outlook for my
newsgroups it fucked it up completely so had to uninstall.

Turnpike is pretty good, but some people dont like it because it doesnt
have all the bells and whistles of Outlook, like automatic virus and
    worm installation and such like.

  12. I have been using Agent for many years. It has the nice property
of not being subject to all the holes that Outlook/Outlook Express
    has.

    ROFL.

I'd go along with Turnpike. Costs a pound or two though. I've been using
it for years. Tried other news/mail readers but always go back to
    Turnpike.

I'd have to go along with Agent too. A look at my headers will show
I'm still using a very old version of Agent.

Have used turnpike, some time ago true, but prefered Agent for news.

I use outlook express for mail though, though Agent does handle that
    quite well too.
And as truthfully stated below, Agent will stop all those worms
    exploiting M$ outlook.

  15. Oh dear, Tony's annoyed at me again :)
I thought I was in his kill file anyway? Along with half the list
    :)

  16. Email - Outlook Express. Why not?
News - If you don't like OE, you could try Agent, though it has an
over-complicated interface. Really, if the post is on your server,
any program will grab and display it. It's not a hard job.

With the size of his kill file I'm surprised he can even see this list.

I know but there's just a couple of things that narc me about OE, namely
that when you mark a thread you have to go to a different newsgroup come
back and then mark it as read so you dont think the next time you log on you
    have a reply.

Also when you select a newsgroup you cant tell whether its red or not (to
signify replys to watched threads) until you go off it which seems a bit
    stupid.

Youd think your own threads wouldnt be highlighted as not read since you
    sent them.

Its only a couple of niggly things but thought maybe there was a news reader
out there that solved small issues like this.

Also I've been led to believe by certain detesters of top posting that other
programs would make you not want to do it.
