camera aspect ratio vs. print size question

    Hi all:

As a digital newbie and forum lurker, I am still confused about many things,
but one thing in particular is bothering me: the Dimage 7i has an aspect
ratio of 4 to 3, so if you want to resize an image to a 4 by 6 for printing,
a dilemma occurs. If the width is set to 6, then, while keeping proportions,
    then height is 4.5".

So, if I want a 6 by 4 print, what do I do? Do I have to Crop? Squish? Does
one have a print size in mind and plan for cropping in composition? Are
    there other alternatives?

Thanks in advance and, please, be gentle.

  2. Yep! You Crop.
Even if the aspect ratio was 2:3, you would still have to crop to get 5x7 or
    8x10s.
