WinXP Pro SP2, firewire PCI card and 6 pin to 4 pin cable not recognizing my
    Panasonic GS50 dv camera.
PC device manager sees the firewire card but nothing happens after making
    the camera to PC
connection via the firewire cable. Already replaced cable and tried a
different dv camera but got same
result. Where should I go from here?

Have you tried removing the PCI firewire card and then rebooting the PC with the
card out.. . once booted, shutdown and insert the card again - try a different
slot - and boot it all back up again. Windows will go through the new hardware
routine and maybe all will be well.

If that doesn't work.. can you try a different card or maybe put the card in a
firend Pc and connect up the DV cam there.

I had the same problem with a GS250, I could never get the computer to
see the camera using a firewire card. My camera has 'USB 2.0 (HS Model)'
written on the side of it and I can't find anywhere in the instructions
info on how to download your images from the camera, maybe it's not
possible? I took the easy way out and downloaded everything using the USB
connection and although they say that firewire is better, everything worked
    OK for me.

While you're at it, and pulling the PCI card out, rebooting, and later
    reinstalling the card again,
I'd also suggest another slot. Sometimes the slots are prioritized, and
    certain protocols work
better in certain slots. It's worth a try, especially if you have a few
    empty slots to play with.

    Halo Two Guest

I had the same problem but after lots of searching on the web I found
the solution and my camera (GS150) is identified by XP now.

There is a fix that I downloaded from the microsoft website. Let me see
if I can find it again. Since you are at SP2 already, update your
machine with all the recommended fixes.

Ok I think I found it.

I felt like taking a printout of this and kissing this page when it
    fixed my problem:

Don't forget to reboot, and while you are at it, install any other
recommended updates for your windows if you have not done so for a
    while.

The Microsoft link states that the hotfix applies to the following models:
    . Panasonic DV camera NV-C3
    . Panasonic DV camera NV-C5
    . Panasonic DV camera NV-EX3

I have a GS50, you stated yours was a GS150 so would this hotfix still
    apply??
